Working Title:  www.knackscooters.com - Beta Test
Author:  Kristin Koeleman
Date:  April 18, 2010

Subjects
Four people took part. Two had seen the site before, two had not. The two that had seen the site before are avid scootering people.  The other two subjects know nothing about scooters nor have any interest in scooters.
Think Aloud Task
Give feedback on first impressions of the site and then explain how to order t-shirts, and name the members of the Knack Scooter Team.
Summary of Think Aloud
All four users commented on how much they liked the colors used in the site.  Two subjects did note that the main heading might look better if it were not outlined in white.  It is not consistent with the smaller heading on each different page.  They both felt it would stand out more if it were not outlined.  One user indicated that the purpose of the site was not clear – she did not know what she was supposed to “do” on this website.  All four subjects went directly to the “Store” tab to find out how to order t-shirts.   Although all four subjects found the “Store” tab quickly and which t-shirts were available, two subjects were looking for a cart button to add a shirt to.  This website does not have the checkout feature designed, but the “Contact” page instructs you to email us to order your shirt.  Three of the four subjects went to the “Team” tab to find the members of Knack Scooters.  The fourth subject initially went to the “Gallery” tab, but quickly realized she was in the wrong place.  All three returned to the home page without difficulty and easily moved from page to page.
Summary of Posttest Interview
Discussions revealed that the Store needed some sort of check out system where customers could pay for their item on line and get it shipped to them.  The “Store” page does not tell you how to order shirts, that information is on the “Contact” page.  Subjects also all wanted to see more photos in the gallery, and suggested adding video clips as well.
Discussions about the home page were very positive.  Explanations were necessary for the two subjects who have no knowledge or interest in scootering that this website was designed for my 11 year old son and his friends to post their photos, sell shirts and keep their friends up to date on scooter happenings going on in Southern California.
